The line forms part of the old Midland Railway line between Manchester Central and London St Pancras which was closed in 1968. It currently operates on approximately 4 miles between Rowsley South Station and Matlock Platform 2.
There are lovely riverside walks from the station enabling passengers to visit Rowsley village itself and the historic Caudwell’s Mill and cyclists can make use of the newly established cycle track which runs alongside the railway line from Rowsley to Matlock.
