About the Event

Unwind in Historic Surroundings at Newstead Abbey

Step into a peaceful world of heritage, landscaped gardens, and quiet open spaces as we host a relaxed weekend retreat at Newstead Abbey. Nestled within the rolling Nottinghamshire countryside, this stunning historic estate — once home to Lord Byron — offers a uniquely serene escape for campers looking to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature.

For this special weekend, our camping field provides direct access into the Abbey’s beautiful Walled Garden, giving guests the rare chance to wander into one of the estate’s most tranquil spaces straight from their pitch.

A Peaceful Setting Steeped in History

🌿 A Retreat Surrounded by Nature

Newstead Abbey’s grounds are a haven of lakes, waterfalls, woodlands, and formal gardens. The atmosphere is naturally quiet, calm, and restorative — making it the perfect place to enjoy a slower pace.

🏰 Explore the Walled Garden From Your Campsite

One of the most enchanting features of this retreat is the exclusive direct access into the Walled Garden, a beautifully tended space filled with colour, structure, and centuries-old charm. It’s an ideal spot for morning coffees, gentle strolls, sketching, photography, or simply enjoying a moment of stillness.

Simple, Comfortable Camping in a Stunning Landscape

While the focus of this event is peace and tranquillity, the camping facilities provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. The camping field offers:

  • Spacious pitches

  • Easy access to water and waste points

  • Clear, open views across the Abbey estate

It’s camping that feels connected to nature, yet wrapped in the calm elegance of a historic setting.

This weekend is about unwinding and enjoying the freedom to explore at your own pace. From the camping field, you can easily reach:

  • The tranquil lakes and waterfalls

  • Woodland paths and open lawns

  • Rose gardens, Japanese gardens, and more

  • Tea rooms and quiet seating areas throughout the grounds

Whether you prefer a mindful walk, a scenic picnic, or reading under an ancient tree, Newstead Abbey gives you space to slow down.

A Weekend Designed for Rest

Unlike our high-energy gatherings, the Newstead Abbey Retreat is purposely gentle:

  • No loud entertainment

  • No strict schedule

  • Just good company, peaceful surroundings, and time to relax

It’s the perfect opportunity to recharge before the busier summer season begins.
